Apple introduces Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra
Apple Watch SE also gets an upgrade
As expected, Apple also presented the new generation of Apple Watch this evening. Many of the features and the design were already shared on social media and blogs in advance, and there were also some leaks shortly before today’s keynote.
Apple has presented the Apple Watch Series 8, which has the identical design to the predecessor generation, but has a slightly larger and also lighter screen. There are new watch faces, including “Lunar” and “Metropolitan”.
Some new functions are also moving in. In addition to the new S8 chip, there is a body temperature sensor for the first time, which is particularly aimed at the health of women. An ovulation tracking with corresponding predictions is also new to be able to better pursue the female cycle and family planning. Deviations in the cycle are also recognized – and all of this with a focus on data protection and privacy.
Further features for an emergency have also been integrated: The Apple Watch Series 8 can, for example, recognize an accident and then automatically stop an emergency call, including the current location. Two sensors, the gyro and speed sensor, were further improved. The Apple Watch Series 8 can recognize accidents from several sides and various vehicles.

The battery of the new Apple Watch 8 should continue to last for a whole day. There is also a low-power mode that enables up to 36 hours at a time. The feature should also be available to all Apple Watches from Generation 4. The cellular models are now supporting internationally roaming.
The aluminum models are available in four colors, midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Product Red, at prices of $ 399 (GPS) or $ 499 (GPS + Cellular), the stainless steel version comes in silver, gold, and graphite. The Apple Watch Series 8 will be available from September 16, 2022.
Apple Watch SE in three colors
Apple also presented Apple Watch SE in three new colors – Midnight, Silver, and Starlight. Apple Watch SE also has the same motion sensors for accident recognition as the Series 8 and has the S8 chip. The new appearance is also 20 percent faster than its predecessor. The Apple Watch SE costs $ 249 in the GPS version and $ 299 in the GPS+cellular variant. It will also be available from September 16, 2022, the pre-orders can take place from today.
Apple Watch Ultra for extreme sports
The leaks on the Internet were correct: Apple presented the Apple Watch Ultra in 49 mm size, which, in addition to 2,000 nits, has a striking side design with a crown and function button. The housing is made of titanium, and there is also an extra “action” button in signal-orange.
The Apple Watch Ultra has a battery life of up to 60 hours and is delivered with cellular connectivity by default. There are new L1+L5 GPS frequencies for precise GPS determination, and waypoints can also be added via the action button for quick navigation. If you need help, a siren of up to 80 dB ensures appropriate audio signals.
The Apple Watch Ultra will receive its own watch face, which is referred to as the “Wayfinder”. It can be adapted for mountain, sea, or trail inserts and has a red fashion for better visibility in dark conditions. With the Ultra Smartwatch, there are also completely new, extra thin bracelets, and individual workouts, for example, triathlons and marathons. The new appearance is also suitable for divers and according to international EN13319. The Apple Watch Ultra is intended to transform a new Ocanic+ app into an extensive diving computer.
The Apple Watch Ultra will be available in all variants for $ 799 from September 23, 2022, the pre-orders will start today.
